When the CEO is a numbers or conquest oriented leader or the dynamics of the Street or other investors become drivers for territorial or market segment capture, that can sometimes leave the GTM team to the task of rationalizing and/or risk mitigating an organizational ambition. Uncomfortable and hard to do, but if the CEO is doing air cover with the Board for the GTM team there are ways to work out the timing and investment so that even the least favorable markets can be addressed with the right timing and expectations projected.
