#7 Reporting

Organizations should concentrate on the types and quality of information that is pulled from the system.  The type of information that is pulled from the system should have meaning and utility.  For instance, many organizations have reconciliation of accounts and basic balancing simply for the purpose of reports generated, both of which are neither meaningful nor useful.  A new system should be implemented so that end users have the ability to create queries and reports on the fly without contacting an administrator.  Dashboards should monitor key performance indicators within the organization for better control and decision making.  Income statements and balance sheets should require little to no configuration and provide the ability to slice data by business unit, department or location. All reports should be configured for drill down to get the underlying transactions.  Last, there should be little to no need to print reports, resulting in lower paper costs and waste.
