#3 Define Critical Success Milestones

#3 Define Critical Success Milestones

To ensure clear communication in changing systems, critical success milestones should be defined prior to the implementation, communicated throughout the organization and measured upon completion. The critical success milestone may be as simple as sales or purchase orders being generated from the system or a department using a component of the system. Communicating milestones by e-mail or newsletter throughout the organization will generate excitement and force those that have been reluctant to change to adopt to the new accounting system. Success should be measured against pain points discussed, i.e. “we improved our revenue by 22% through automated sales orders”, or “decreased our costs by $25,000 by eliminating duplicate efforts in the procurement process”.
